Thanks to the Bible Society of Seychelles’ transformative initiative, student leaders from eleven state secondary schools across Mahé, Praslin, and La Digue have been equipped with leadership training grounded in biblical principles and practical life skills.
This eight-month programme, titled “Biblical & Life Skills Training for Transformational Leadership”, has now gained the funding and support of the government’s Seychelles National Grants Committee—a testament to the impact being felt.
Designed to encourage responsible, confident, and virtuous leaders, the programme covered three key areas:
- Transformational Leadership – Students explored personal awareness, leadership principles, mindset development, and leading others with integrity.
- Christian Character Development – Sessions focused on understanding what true character is, choosing what is right by God’s standards, and embodying the values of a Christ-centred leader.
- Life Skills – Participants learned practical tools like communication, time management, and conflict resolution, while also understanding the differences between gifts, talents, and competencies.
At the end of the programme, each participant has received a certificate and a Bible (pictured)—symbols not just of completion, but of commissioning into a new chapter of influence among their peers.
One of those participants, Miss Anaëlle Marie, shared her heartfelt reflections:
“I started the training thinking I already knew what it meant to be a great leader. But these sessions completely reshaped my perspective. They pushed me to understand myself, my values, and what kind of leader I want to be—not just in school, but in life.
I learned to differentiate between what the world calls ‘right’ and what the Bible calls ‘right’—a lesson that challenged me to be a God-fearing leader. We all came in with little experience, but we’re leaving this programme as confident, humble, and history-making young leaders. I’m truly grateful to the facilitators and the Bible Society of Seychelles for this life-changing opportunity.”
The impact of this initiative extends far beyond the walls of the classroom. By equipping school leaders, the Bible Society fosters peer-to-peer transformation – planting seeds of responsibility, faith, and purpose that are expected to grow and ripple through entire communities.
As these young leaders return to their schools, they carry with them not just knowledge but vision—vision for lives shaped by Scripture, schools strengthened by values, and communities transformed by hope.
